Sleepy Bunny

At my last visit at the art supply shop I bought a small sketchbook which I can take on my walks. I sketched a face while sitting on a bench and watching ducks and goose on a little pond. The rest of the body followed and I added a little bunny plushie.

This little girl should look more sleepy, so I added some more details. I loved to give her some stray hairs and the bunny some sewn on patches. As always I revisited my sketch in Procreate and chose a color scheme.

I wanted to use my Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils but I didn’t find the right paper. I pressed the pencil hard on the paper to deepen the color. After carefully wiping away some color dust with a soft brush I lifted so much color from the paper, that I had to deepen the color again. I had no fun drawing this way. I did this on two different papers (left: FaberCastell SketchPad and right: Lana drawing paper) before going with my favorite colored pencil paper combo.

Drawing with Derwent Chromaflow in my Leuchtturm Sketchbook has become my comfort zone. I want to be more free with my paper choices especially paper sizes. Therefore I try different papers very often. But I haven’t found my perfect match yet. I enjoy drawing with the Chromaflow very much, but they are not as lightfast as the Polychromos. The Derwent Lightfast or Caran d’ache Luminance do not have the color range.

So here is the finished illustration done with 16 different shades of Chromaflow.
